When it Comes to Fashion and Fashion Trends

Sunday, April 4th, 2010

If there were one thing that you could change about your body, what would it be?  There are actually a large number of individuals out there who would like to change more than just one thing.

There are many who say that they are too skinny, others who claim that they are too large, some claim that their cleavage is too big or too small, and others who would change the size of their butts. Unfortunately, not everyone has the money needed to get cosmetic surgery and not everyone has the time needed to devote to an exercise plan.  That is what results in many feeling hopeless, like things are never going to change.  However, there is good news, while you may not necessarily be able to change the way that your body is, you may be able to “change,” the way that it looks. You can do this with fashion.

Unfortunately, when it comes to fashion and fashion trends, there are many individuals who only believe that fashion trends are only for those who are “perfect,” like models.  The truth is that nobody is perfect and that is why fashion trends are more than just for those who are models.  What you may not necessarily realize is that fashion comes in all different sizes, shapes, and styles.  There are fashion trends that exist for individuals of all different sizes and shapes.  A few of those fashions are briefly touched on below.

The Fashion Industry is a Hard Business to Penetrate

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Fashion is where money is. The public has grown so obsessed with Hollywood that encourages the fashion industry to evolve on its lucrative growth. Instant popularity is at hand if you have the right combination of everything (say right choice of endorser, right choice of fashion ideas, innovative and creative sense of fashion and the likes).

Nonetheless, the fashion industry is a hard business to penetrate. You must be equipped with the knowledge and influences that would provide you the maximum exposure you need to deliver your creations into the industry. But still, most of everything is commanded by your brilliance in designing that would give you center stage.

Your talent might be there. It is an innate property that can’t be stolen from you. It is in your own discretion though to let that talent turn into passion. But talent and skills are not enough. You have to undergo formal instructions to be able to hone those special features and direct them specifically towards becoming the best of your self.

This is the basic principle why fashion schools exist and continue to serve budding artists. They provide guidance and supplemental training to drive the artist to achieve with his creations. While online fashion schools have been gathering fame in the fashion industry, this still does not negate the fact that hands-on training and face-to-face instructions can’t be equaled even by the best online degree offers.

Designer is Having a Show

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Fashion designers sometimes provide refreshments at their fashion shows. They use their math skills to make sure that they purchase the right amounts.Suppose a designer is having a show, and 200 people will attend. He will serve bottled water and apples. Then he asks himself, “How much should I buy?” He can use multiplication and division to find out.

A designer created a jacket. It was modeled at a fashion show. A store owner loved the look of the jacket and ordered 100 jackets for her store. Now the designer must get the jackets made. Her math skills will help her do this.First, the designer must purchase the materials she needs. She must buy denim fabric for the outside of the jacket. She needs nylon fabric for the jacket’s lining. She needs buttons, and she needs thread.

But how much of each kind of fabric should she buy? How much thread? How many buttons? The designer uses multiplication to find out. Here’s how she does it.

Fashion Designers have Shows to Display Their New Designs

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

The prototypes are completed. They look terrific. Now it’s time for the fashion show! Maybe you have seen parts of a fashion show on television. At these shows, models walk down a runway. A runway is a long, narrow platform that extends out into the audience. The models wear new clothing designs. The people in the audience sit in chairs and watch. They look at the interesting new clothes.

Fashion designers have shows to display their new designs. People who own clothing stores often go to the shows. They decide which of the designs to buy. They will sell clothing made according to these designs in their stores.

Runway Math
Planning fashion shows requires math skills. Sometimes a fashion show can be only a certain number of hours or minutes long.Designers must determine how many of their designs they can display at the show in that time. Sometimes designers know they want to display a certain number of designs. How long should the show be to allow all the designs to be seen? Designers can use division or multiplication to figure out things  like these.

Suppose a fashion show will be 30 minutes long. Each model will walk on the runway for 2 minutes. She will walk to the front of the runway, stop so that people can look closely at what she is wearing, and walk back again. Then, another model will come out.
