Free Community Health Fair at the Little Haiti Farmers Market Saturday, February 4, 2012

The Little Haiti Farmers Market, a new weekly non-profit farmers market, will host a free community Health Fair this Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Touissant Louverture Elementary School in Little Haiti, located at 120 NE 59 St, Miami, FL.

The Health Fair, sponsored by the Miami-Dade County Health Department, will bring more than 20 health vendors to the market to provide services and educational materials on important health issues that affect the community. Services include Free Blood Pressure and Health Screening for the entire family, information on breast and cervical cancer, Medicare/Medicaid, diabetes, healthy cooking, skin care, free giveaways and more!

At 11:00 a.m., community members are invited to take a tour of the nearby Little Haiti Community Garden, and at 1:00 p.m., watch a live cooking show by local celebrity Chef Creole as he demonstrates How to Prepare Healthy Haitian Cuisine. All day long, Barry University will provide physical fitness games for youth of all ages and.
